  1. You can go to any DMV office in the state to take care of whatever business you would like to.  You can't go to another state of course.

Actually, it depends on the state rules.  In some places it doesn't matter, but some go by Zip or Postal Code to determine where you can go, at least for the road test.  That is to prevent people living in large cities, who are scared of driving in traffic, from looking for a small town with few cars to deal with during the test.

    To determine the rules for your situation, you are best advise to call your nearest DMV and ask them if there is a restriction on the branch you can go to.  I have looked at websites that list a zillion test locations, and most of them say to go to the nearest, but most of them do not say you HAVE to go only to the nearest.
