I arrived for my trip,to see my girlfriend.Originally I wanted to stay for 3 months.Basically I wanted to use up until the end of my visa in November.I have no previous Visa violations and have enough funding to pay my own way.I believe they think I want to marry my United States girlfriend.I've been to the States twice before and left when I said I would. The outcome of yesterday was that I was given a one month stay in the States. Can this be appealed anywhere? Can they get you to sign in to your email accounts so they can read? Can they go through your hand luggage bag?I let them,as I didn't want to be deported, yet I felt this was wrong.

  1. Yes, the customs officials can ask you to sign into your e-mail accounts and read your messages.  They can also search your luggage.  You can appeal the one month decision at the state department.

  2. This question is confusing.

Any legal question asking how you appeal has to include what decision you are appealing.  It sounds like you're being deported.  Did you have a visa that is good for November?  If so, why are you being deported?  In the old days, there was a Board of Immigration Appeals, though with DHS that's probably changed.  There are immigration attorneys but they are expensive and you're only fighting for a few months.

"Can they go through your hand luggage bag?I let them,as I didn't want to be deported, yet I felt this was wrong."

In theory they can - you're here on a visa means that you've been given permission to be here, and that permission means that you've agreed to do what they say to some extent.  Every time you go to the airport you get searched - why do you think you're different?

  3. Any alien visiting a foreign country is subject to their laws.

Also,  the US Government excells at being nasty.

Immigration officers are a law unto themselves and answerable to no one.   They can strip you naked and check your body cavities,

They view everyone with suspicion with good reason,  Aliens disappear when they arive here and in many instances are among the criminal element.    The precautions are offensive to the good people but weed out the bad.

Just shrug your shoulders and live with it.

Regarding the visa it is possible to go to immigration here and request an extension of stay.

  4. So what you're asking is... As an alien, you're going to fight the US Government to stay not being a US Citizen... I'm going to say no. They can do whatever they want as far as invasion of privacy... They're the US Government on US Government soil... Sorry
