Question:

Can I apply Early Action If I Haven't Taken My SAT Subject Tests yet?

Academically I'm alright for second tier schools. I have a 1980 SAT but I've been studying a ton for the SATs this summer and I'm starting a Sylvan class this week so I think my scores will go up by fall. I have a 3.7 or so, I'm President of three clubs, 300+ volunteering hours, etc

I've heard that when your applying to any competitive school that you don't have great chances in getting accepted too its good to apply early decision/action. I don't want to do early decision because I need financial aid and can't go to a school that won't give me a significant amount (my parents won't pay for it).

My question is, can I apply early action if i'm retaking my SAT 1 in October and only taking my3 SAT Subject Tests in November (for schools that require them)? Would it be too late? And if I did apply early decision to a school that could not give me sufficient financial aid, am I liable for a full years tuition? What are the repercussions for not going to the school?

Thanks for any information.

  1. These are questions you'd be better off asking the admissions folks at the universities where you would like to apply. Good luck!!!
