Can I apply for a visa in an embassy that is NOT in my country's jurisdiction?

My wife is slovak, I am peruvian. We will go to live to Slovakia and have already made plans for travelling next month. BUT there's not slovak embassy in Peru, I have to arrange it by courier with the slovak embassy in Argentina.

But the slovak consul in Argentina won't be available for one month, hence, there's no-one who can issue a visa.

I ask myself: can I apply for the slovak visa in another country where Slovakia has an embassy, even if this embassy has not consular competences with my country, Peru?

  1. I think that you can apply.

  2. Yes, you can.  I have done this.  When you go to a different country, let's say Japan, and you go to the Slovakia embassy in Tokyo with your Peruvian passport, you are dealing directly with Slovakia as a Peruvian citizen, and nothing to do with Japan.

  3. check this address and see if still valid?
