I am planning a trip to Nice, France in six weeks. The French embassy in my country declared this season that I must take an appointment before going to the embassy. The appointments are fully booked well after August. My question is whether it is possible to go to other embassies i.e. German or Italian and get a shengen visa even though I am not planning to visit those countries at all?

  1. No. You will need to apply to those embassies for visas, and they will only grant you a visa if you go to Italy or Germany.

Since Nice is not too far from Italy, you might want to consider going via Italy and applying for a visa from the Italian embassy.  Once you get the Schengen visa, then you are okay to travel to other countries.
