What do you think of US army training of Ugandan army. I know they say it is part of the war on terror.

Does the Pentagon know they are giving training to men that helped in the taking of Israeli hostages in the Seventies. That there are still lots of high ranking officers that served under Idi Amin. Who lots of the people of Uganda do not even to this day trust. In fact who most of the Ugandans I know see as been potential Military dictators.

So is the Pentagon as what my Ugandan friends keep saying to me "playing with fire here?"

  1. Because they must be fighting for the right ideology and way of life. Also if you are able to incite a coup you can sell arms and make loads of money. It's only through trouble that we advance in life.

  2. Let someone else do it. Go get the Germans or someone. Let them get off their butts and play police for a while instead of looking at America.

When America does something like what you suggest we are called war mongers...when we dont we are talked bad about as well.

  3. America also taught Al queda to fly boeing 747's before they turned on America, let's see how this one pans out.

  4. We do this all the time. We train them, arm them, 20 years later they turn on us and we train someone else, arm them....I find it dispiriting that my country does not 'live AND learn.'

  5. Thirty years is a long time in politics. Policies and friends change, depending on the circumstances.

No matter what country you choose to talk about, they all do what they perceive is best for them now and in the future.

  6. The Bush administration has been playing with fire for a long time in many areas.  I am a proud American but I disagree with Bush in many things.  He is a man with many hidden agendas. We should not be in Uganda.
