Can I attend training and still receive IL unemployment benefits?

Question

I get conflicting answers and when I call the office I am on hold for hours! I was laid off of my last job and am collecting unemployment while looking for a new one. However, I have been thinking about taking a vocational training course to help market me. Some people say they will give your less money, some people say they will give me more. I don't know? do you?

You have to ask your unemployment office to be sure, and do it in person. For IL, they have the Workforce Investment Act which help to train you further for a new skilled job or new career.
