Can I attend vocational school an recieve welfare benefits?

I will be attending cosemotology school in the fall however, the schedule for a full time student is not flexible.

I am a single woman with no children living with my mom to pursue my dream of doing hair. I want to know if the welfare system will asiist me while attending school in nyc? Ive never been on welfare so i have no clue?

  1. If the vocational school is like a college, you might consider investigating the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at http://fafsa.ed.gov .  They can pay for some - or all - of your academic costs if you get the forms completed in time.


  2. you may be able to get a few food stamps but they will require you work at least 20-25 hours a week if you do. Without having kids, it's doubtful you will get them..if you do, you will only get just a few dollars maybe $10.. depending on whether you are paying your mother rent and how much.. you are better off trying to work part time somewhere. You can get enough financial aid to live on while going ..This late in the year though..if you haven't already done the fafsa..your money won't be in until almost Oct/November. GL
