I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy...I am a chubby girl but not heavily overweight..I hated pricking myself all the time and felt like a walking pin cushion. Is there anything I can do to avoid getting it with this pregnancy? anything i can avoid or do to lower my risk?

I know im at higher risk cause i had it before but any helpful ideas? Thanks =)

I'm 11 weeks pregnant

  1. Having had it before definitely raises your chances alot, but it's not a given.  Be very, very careful about your diet beginning now, meaning no sugars, baked goods, or anything that makes your levels spike - I'd even go so far as to totally adopt the diet they probably gave you last time - and take daily 30 minute walks or some other sort of light exercise.  Those are the only things that are proven to actually prevent it from happening.

    Congrats and good luck!!
