Can I be 14 and drive a jet ski in Indiana? If not how old?

I want to buy a used waverunner and I've found one in mynprice range and I would like to buy it. Only problem is I'm not sure if I'm old enough. By the way, I'm more than willing to take a boating safety class, I just need to know how old I need to be. Please give a link as well, u'll get the ten points if u do :)

No, Sorry about that, but in Indiana you must be 15...

But... FYI - At 14 you can take flying lessons and get your solo permit to get your private pilots license... WOW! Seems kinda backwards doesn't it... So, in Indiana, at 14 - you can't drive a boat - but you can fly a plane. Just what this country needs is a bit more Government intervention...

Who May Operate a Vessel in Indiana

All motorboat and PWC operators must have a valid vehicle driver’s license to operate on any of Indiana’s public waters.

Motorboat operators who are 15 years of age may operate a motorboat or PWC until they become a licensed driver only if they complete a boater education course approved by the Department of Natural Resources and have on board an ID card issued by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). A person who has never been licensed by the BMV must complete an approved boater education course successfully and have on board an ID issued by the Indiana BMV to operate a motorboat legally.

No one under 15 years of age may legally operate a motorboat greater than 10 horsepower or a PWC.

Sorry... I would have gone absolutely nuts if I had not of had my little motor boat to go out fishing when I was 14.

Capt John is correct, You have to be at least 15 and complete the boaters safety course or hold a driver's license in Indiana.
