I want to be a Vet, I believe that that is the perfect job for me. I also want a large, close, and happy family. I don't want to have to wait till I am 30 years old to have kids. I hear a lot that women Veterinarians usually give it up their practice after they have children, I don't want to do that but then again I want to be there for my kids like a stay at home mom would be. Is there anyone that has dealt with this dilemma that could give some much needed advice?

  1. If you become a Vet, you can either work for others, or get a bank loan, and open your own business.

If you want to set your own hours, in order to be with your children growing up, then you want to be the business owner, or have a good agreement with a partner regarding your hours.

Open your business very close to a Resort of Owner Homes, or near a WalMart.  You DO NOT need to be open everyday...nor weekends.

As a Mom I know that for your child to spend some hours each day in nursery or pre-school, can be an incredibly good experience for them.  If it is a good "teaching" facility, you child will benefit.

You may not know, but most young Mom's NEED to get away some anyway, otherwise they all say that their brain turns to musch.  Too much Barney is not good for adults! ha ha haha.

If you can find family or dependable friends to help with the sitting, and pay them well enough they want to do a great job with your child, then you can handle both jobs very well.

Please do keep a clean smelling business, and shower with antibacterial daily before coming home and handling your child.

It's worth the effort.  Clue, I have quit any vet that let their business get smelly.  Your front desk help should mop several times a day with odor killing mix.

You go for your dream young woman.  Women have lots of stamina, and can do all they want to do.  Just be wise with your schedule so that you DO NOT burn out.  Get the help you need....and don't forget Grandma's are excellent helpers, if you LET them!!!

  2. Gee thanks, I didn't know I was ready for the walker and cane when I had my first child at 32.  I had my second child at 35 and my third child at 38.  Our Veterinarian hasn't given up her practice to have a family, by the way she had her kids later than I did and she has 5 of them.  You don't have a dilemma, what you have is a misconception that over 30 is too old for anything.

  3. CK IT IT OUT ON THE INTERNET,,,PEACE

  4. Can you be in 2 places at one time?

If you can then go ahead and have kids and a practice.

the sad truth is you CANNOT be in 2 places at one time.either your carrer and pratice will suffer or your children will.

The Columbine shooters were raised by parents who both worked. They were upper middle class. They shooters left a note saying something to the affect that no one loved or cared about them,I know divorced parents who work 2 jobs(not that they need to but want "THINGS" and are NOT willing to do without those "THINGS" in order to spend time with their kids, so they try to buy their kdis off with "THINGS" hoping it will replace they time they lost with them.It don't.

You are going to have to choose one or the other hon.

You could maybe work part time when your kids start school.
