Is there any retrictions in being in Civil Air Patrol and JR ROTC which at my school is Air Force? Can I use the same uniform too since at the CAP shop looks exactly the same as the JR ROTC unifrom? Thanks for any information :)

  1. Of course. I was in a MCJROTC and I have been under the same guy for two years. He was also in the Civil Air Patrol.

I'm not sure but I don't think you can wear the CAP uniforms for JROTC events even if the uniforms look alike. JROTC just went through a reorganisation and had a new chain of command. Many stuff were ban etc. It might be safe to ask your Instructors.

But to make a point, you wear what your JROTC issue you. I have the Marines cammies and I can't wear them like other units since this units  wears only MARPAT and they didn't allow non JROTC issues.

  2. When I was in CAP 10 years ago. The guys that were in airforce JROTC couldnt wear there JROTC uniforms they had to be in CAP uniform. They were however allowed to wear all of there JROTC ribbons on there class As. Check with you CAP unit commander and see waht they say, I am pretty sure in BDUS you will have to have the blue CAP tapes and the state wing patch on your shoulder, so you cant wear your jrotc bdus. Most CAP wings will issue you a set of BDUS, and a set of class as other wise get a cheap pair at a thrift store that you can use for CAP only.

OH yeah just to edit. You can definately be in both programs. If you are looking to go to the Air Force Academy do really well in both programs and in school and you will be a shoe in.

  3. Yup...I am currently in AJROTC and I am a C/2d Lt in CAP. I was in AFJROTC my freshman year (Im a JR now). Of course, I like CAP a lot more though because of the diversty and the fact that we can fly and be trained in search and rescue. You can only where 3 JROTC ribbons in CAP. In AFJROTC, though, you can only where the milestone ribbons (curry, mitchell, earhardt, eaker, and spaatz). the AFJROTC uniforms have patches on the shirt and jacket so you probably won't be using one uniform for the other
