Can I be in the infantry for the Marines?

Question

I am in good physical shape overall it is just my vision it isn't the best. I have good enough vision to have gotten my drivers license in California. The problem is that my right eye is almost blind ever since I was a kid. My good eye can be corrected to 20/40. I want to be in Infantry can I? I mean I have gotten used to my problem and am not a "Hazard" to anyone. I would really like to become a Marine!

u can get a waiver if u need one for just about anything nowadays. so yes! my recruiter told me that their divisions officer got a man who was 80 percent disabled into the navy reserves. it took like 6 months but he got waived for a lot of things.

If your able to function properly, then you should have no problem getting intot he military. Then may have to do some evaluation though, just to make sure.

How do you know you are not a hazard to anyone if you have never served in the USMC?

All you can do is go see a recruiter and he will have the medical requirements for you at the ready.

You'd have to talk to a recruiter about it.

you will need to talk to a recruiter who will be able to take you to a meps station or a base to get a vision check. then they will be able to help you.

you have to realize that every Marine is a rifleman first. so being able to shoot is a big deal. you might be able to get a waiver for that, but then you wont be able to be infantry in my opinion, you might be able to get a desk job or supply if you get a vision wavier.

Being partiall or completely blind in on eye could give you some problems.  As far as I know, you have to be able to see with your glasses on in each eye (ia am not sure how well).  You are not required to be able to see well without glasses.
