  1. can you be on a ship and iraq at the same time? think before you ask.

brush up on your common sense.

  2. No, butt you can transfer from one to the other after your term is up.

  3. One or the other, you can only be in one service at a time.

  4. NO!!!

    SSG US Army 73-82

  5. No you can only affilitate with one Reserve branch of the military.  However the Sea Services (USN, USCG and USMC) often work together. So pick something you like and depending on the role you can be slated to a joint command.

Naval Coastal Warefare for example, has joint USCG, USMC and USN involvement.

  6. No, you can only enlist in one branch of service at a time, even as a reservist.  It is also impossible to be in one branch on active duty and join another reserve branch.

If you think that joining the Navy Reserve means being on a ship, think again.  I have been in the Reserves for over fifteen years and have only been assigned to a ship once; and she never got underway during my two weeks.  However, I did get mobilized and spent six months in the Kuwaiti desert.
