  1. No, but they can give you sick days in which you should get paid

  2. I don't think any one can suspend you legally for being sick.It is your privilege to stay at home and take rest when you are sick.

  3. If your still sick he can suspend you. If your cured means he cant.

  4. Hmmmm suspend you well I'm pretty sure if your sick and have a valid doctors note then you can not be suspended or fired for calling in sick.

  5. Employers are more aware of the importance of keeping sick employees away from work than before, because of education.

There is more awareness now, because "superbugs" have been known to cause loss in real economic terms.

This is especially so, when you're in F&B.

Imagine the germs that could potentially be spread to your collegues and render them sick and unable to turn up for duty and those who patronise your restaurant, if you insist on turning up for work, despite being sick.

It is, in fact, a considerate gesture on your part, not to go to work when you're sick.

You may need to point this out to your boss.

If all else fails, approach the employees union in a governmental capacity to look into your problem.
