  1. You are still young . you can only become a police officer once you are 21 years old and have a POST certificate.

you are still very very young and have a longs way to go.

Just try hard because to be an Officer you have to be smart and hold alot of information and be able to act in times of pressure

  2. psdiver did provide terrific advice. Another good website to visit for excellent information about becoming a law enforcement officer is http://www.peaceofficerjobs.com . Try to keep a positive attitude toward school.

  3. Ahh to be 13 again!! LOL!!!

It is good to see you are taking an interest in becoming a LEO at your age, but you still have so much time ahead of you.

You'd better start working on your grades now, it helps in the long run. In a few years time ask your local PD if they have an explorers program so you can get a taste of what it is like being "on the job". Take it from me, it's not as glamourous as the TV shows make it out to be. We're all not Crockett and Tubbs like Miami vice. LOL!! And don't believe everyting you see on COPS either as that show is partially scripted.

More advice I usually give you "young-uns" is to get as much extra experience and qualifications that you can before applying. If you have additional qualifications such as being SCUBA certified, a pilot's licence, CPR, community service, judo, tae kwon do, prior military, it all helps. Also knowing more than one language helps a lot these days, Spanish it seems is going to become a major part of US daily life, as is French up here in Canada.

If you want to check out a website that deals with questions on becoming a LEO a really good one is at:

www.policelink.com   and I'm not saying  it just because I contribute to it, there are a lot of fellow LEO's on there that are more than happy to share experience and give advice.

Best of luck to you, and get those grades up!! :-)  :-)

  4. Your still young. If you are in High school and think you are not bright, it doesnt matter. All you have to do is take all the basic stuff in high school such as science, math and english and make sure you pass them. If you dont then you may have a problem.

  5. No..

  6. psdiver gave you good advice. The only thing I can add is to seek out help for school work from your teachers.  It you tell them about what you want to become, and show a willingness to improve your grades, they will help you.  Look at your study habits and see if they can be improved. Try to get involved with Police Explorers Cadet program.  All of the above will help you obtain a more positive outlook on life.  Good luck in your endeavors.

  7. You should try and become a firefighter, now those are the real heroes.....you can become anything you put your mind to, if you think you suck in school try harder, don't let anyhting interrupt you're dreams, nothing.

  8. Don't be real hard on yourself. I to was not a good student all through high school. Then, when I started college it all clicked for me and I learned how to learn. Stay with it and follow your dream. I am retired now but spent some of the best years of my life serving as a police officer. Stay with it and good luck.
