  1. Modern shaolin monks are civil servants  like meter maids and postal workers.   Why would you want to become a postal worker in Communist China?

    Three thumbs down eh?

lol. I guess some people have never experienced Communist China.  Don't like to have their bubbles burst, prefer to fantasize about early Jet Lee movies...

Okay, let's try a more positive answer.

If you want to become an effective fighter in the shortest time possible, join an MMA gym.  Train kickboxing and grappling.

However, if you want to combine pursuit of martial arts perfection with spiritual development, train whatever is near you that find yourself drawn to.  Try more than one style and teacher, stay with the ones you like most.

If you want to pursue traditional styles, I highly recommend at least dabbling with Taichi.  Even if it doesn't become your main interest,  the experience will help you understand other styles.

If you want to pursue traditional styles, I highly recommend at least dabbling with boxing or kickboxing.  Even if it doesn't become your main interest,  the experience will help you understand which teachers understand how to fight and which teachers are talking nonsense.

  2. Go to the shoalin temple in China, it may take you a while to find it, but when you do you have to ask the master to take you on as  a student, he may or may not take you, he will decide what is best, if he does take you on, you won't immediately start out by learning forms or martial arts from the beginning, he will most likely have you do strenuous chores and manual labor, when he sees that you are ready to learn martial arts he will tell you, that could be anywhere from 2 to 3 years. So bottom line, it is impossible to become a shoalin monk in less that 17 months.

  3. No, Monks that train for martial arts train for years to accomplish their amazing feats. The "regular" non-performance monks who focus on spirituality also train for years.

  4. Of course you can!! I can get you the certificate and the outfit in less than 17 months-which also includes an online training for the Shaolin Style. Let me know if you're interested and we can talk money...

  5. no

  6. No, you cannot.

  7. Being a monk is a life style not a title. You need to be commited for your whole life to the way of the Budist monks such as no s*x, no drinking, no meat, no stealing, no killing etc. Its a life time commitement that you have to be ready mentally. If you just want to learn Kung Fu from Shaolin monks, you can go to the Shaolin Temple and they do offer lessons that you can learn in a few month.

  8. you must be very young to ask this

  9. yes, yes you can

  10. No. Why would you want to in 17 months? A monk has to be learned in spiritual matters and well versed in the religious dogma of the faith.

  11. no.....
