  3. I doubt you would admit it, but is it NOT possible that you marred an American in order to become one?

    Green card marriages are on the rise and the US government knows this. Your citizenship process will not be easy because there is so much fraud.

    you need get your green card first then live in the U.S for 3 years to apply for citizenship.

  5. You never, ever get US citizenship just from marrying a US citizen. Marriage to a US citizen does, in most cases, allow you to apply for a green card. Once you have a green card, you need to keep it for 3 years and stay married to your spouse during those 3 years. Then, you may apply for citizenship. There is no guarantee that you will get US citizenship just because you applied, and again, applying for citizenship is strictly and purely voluntary. You can remain a green card holder for the rest of your life if you choose.

    You can also apply for citizenship if you are not married to a US citizen, but then you need to have had a green card for 5 years, not 3.

  7. it is alot more complicated then that.I have been married to my husband since apr.2001,and we are still trying .we have a lawyer now.if you don't have any of the papers you need to be here legallythen thats when things get harder and more expensive.
