Question:

Can I become a gymnast?

I'm 13, and I really really would like to begin gymnastics. And do it seriously, not just a hobby. This is something that I feel really passionate about and know I want to do this. I'm not saying I think I'll become pro or anything, but I still definitely want to try, regardless. But I know that stuff like this most people start younger. Do you think I still have a chance? Thanks a lot, any comments/advice is greatly appreciated!

  1. You have a great chance. you can be anything you want to be if you focus, and try hard enough.

  2. yea it all depends how good u gonna be. u could even start when u 15 and i think if u put in all the work u would do great

  3. Its Hard, But Possible.. But That Doesnt Mean You're Gonna Only Practice Gymnastics Twice A Week 2 Hours A Day... You Will Have To Practice Alot, Everyday And 4 Hours A Day... And That Will Be Hard To Keep Up With School. It Would Be Easier If You Were Homeschooled. But After School Work On Your Homework. Focus. Then Your Done! Then Its Gymnastics Time. Then Free Time. But Make Sure You Get Alot Of Water And Catch Some Z's.  If You Want To Hang Out With Yr Friends I Have A Idea, Why Not Have Them Practice With You?..... Oh And You Should Try Recreational Gymnastic Classes In Your Area. Then Once You Get Really High Level, And Do Competitive Gymnastics... Are You Saying You Want To Do The Olympics? Then Why Not? Practice Alot And Give It Your Shot. Even If You Didnt Make It.. You Still Can Be A Professional Gymnast... Hope This Helps!

  4. The Chinese girls are winning Olympic gold medals at 9, He Kexin barely looked 6 at the Olympics while Shawn Johnson climbed out of her crib and landed with a 3 1/2 twist dismount when she was 3. Trampoline gymnastics on the other hand, does not require gymnasts to start young...

  5. You might have a chance if you have all the groundworks----flexibility, agility, etc. But if you are just starting to build up the groundworks just now than it's too late. Also, being short helps. Make sure you are not too tall.

  6. Yes u would want to start very soon Train hard very hard it takes a lot of hours 5-6 days a week training before and after school weekends and holidays..
