Can I borrow a check from a friend?

I'm applying learner's permit today, but found I run out checks. they don't accept cash. can I borrow a check from a friend (of course give her money and let her write to the driving authority.

is it too personal? thanks.

Just buy a money order at any supermarket, convenience store, post office or department store.
