Can I breadcrumb fish for frying without Egg?

It's not that I can't have Eggs, I just want to know if I can cut the Egg wash out of the process of adding breadcrumbs to fish for frying?

I have looked around the Net for some recipes, but I am not getting enough information to know for certain.

Any proven solutions to get the breadcrumbs to stick to the fish without Eggs?

  1. Use milk and for chicken use a basil salad dressing instead of egg   then shake in a bag (easier than trying to roll it in the crumbs)

  2. Use water instead egg... I like it much better

  3. Just dip it in some milk instead. The purpose of the eggs is to give the crumbs something more to adhere to and to add a little darkening to the colour when fried. Milk will do basically the same thing.

  4. butter milk will work and so will egg whites if you don't wanna use the whole egg. And beer also works well

  5. use milk instead of eggs

    ever had beer-batter fish yummy

  6. Dip in milk, dip in crumbs, dip in milk, dip in crumbs and cook.

  7.   depends on the frying method also if it is deep fried or pan fried. water will work, but something with fat will work better for adhearing to the fish. and keeping it moist.a double dip is the most used flour first with a wash ( milk or water or egg). then the bread crumbs for pan frying . For deep frying i sugest also the double dip buy with either more flower, or corn meal.. you can also use just jiffy mix..Good luck..:)

  8. I always use water. Its very healthy and super simple.

  9. yes you can . egg help breading stick but not needed if not wanted

but the product being cooked is crunchier than if use the egg wash

  10. I like to dip my fish in milk and then bread crumbs.  It seems to make a lighter coating.  I have also used buttermilk before the crumbs.

You can also use mayonnaise.  Just be sure the fish is completely dry.  I have done this with chicken, but I haven't used it on fish, but now that I think about it I will.

  11. I would recommend the egg wash, but it's not necessary! Use water if you don't want to use eggs!

  12. I dip it in milk and that works just fine!  The key to get batter to stick is leaving it down until that side is done,  don't flip it too early!

  13. use milk. make sure breadcrumbs are broken up small, add some lemonpepper seasoning.

  14. use milk or water...a trick to having the moisture cling to the fish is to dust it with a little flour first. then dip in water or milk...moisture clings to dry surfaces better.
