Can I break my lease if I have pests and broken appliances?

Okay, my lease ends on October 31 and I was wondering if it is okay to break my lease now (it's July 28) because I have roaches, earwigs (that I think is biting my daughter), and ants. My dishwasher is broken and my bathroom sink won't turn off completely which causes my electricity bill to be sky high. We have pest control that comes out every 3 months and I have called about the ants once before. I keep a clean house (for the most part) but it's not nasty where I should have bugs. They were supposed to give me a new dishwasher 3 months ago. They came to fix the bathroom sink, but they forgot to tighten a pipe, which caused my bathroom to flood. Then they came to fix the leak, but it still won't turn off completely. What will happen if I move into an apartment that has better staff and maintance before the end of my lease?

  1. First off, is your landlord aware of the problems?

    Is the city?

There may be a clause in your lease that you can move because of these problems but you still may need to give a 30 day notice.

  2. As long as you have made your landlord aware of these problems., he legally has to have them fixed. if not, you can break your lease. He has to pay for any kind of repair like that... Any repairs where its like, things break and need to be fixed. if you had punched a whole in the wall it would be a different story. A reasonable amount of mess is no cause for those problems. I hope your landlord has been paying for all of those things, if not.. you should take legal action.
