Can I bring a flat iron onto an airplane?

I was wondering if I can bring my flat iron/hair straightener in my hand luggage onto an airplane. I looked at tsa.gov, but they didn't mention anything about flat irons.

Its one of those things that are open to interpretation by the TSA.  You can bring it but some of the Leads or Supervisors for the TSA might not let it go.  You can always place it into your check luggage.

Yes you can.  However, you can't use it on the plane.
