Can I bring a tote on a plane as a carry-on?

I am going to Florida tonight and I got a new tote. A DOmo one from Hot Topic if you want the details, and my parents said I can't and I have to use the Dakine one... They said that the tote will tip over and fall and spill everything on the plane, and you can't put it on your lap xP...

So can you tell me and can you state your source?

THANKS GUYS!

  1. yeah, you put it under the seat in front of you

  2. Typically, you are allowed 1 carry-on and 1 personal item (purse, laptop bag, backpack)

A tote can typically fit into the "personal item" category so I see no problem.

  3. You can, but if you think about you may decide you don't actually want to.

  4. For most airlines you can carry one appropriate sized carry-on as well as another purse-type personal bag.

Go to your airline's website for specifics and their personal luggage policies.

  5. yea you actually can

  6. I don't know what plan you will be on but this is what United Airlines has for their policies:

A carry-on bag must fit under your seat or in the overhead bin.

    Carry-on bag dimensions should not be more than 9 x 14 x 22 in/22 x 35 x 55 cm (length + width + height) or 45 linear in/112 linear cm (the length, height and width added together)

  7. If it will fit under the seat you can take it on the plane. But...your parents are correct, your stuff will fall out when you lay it down to fit under the seat.
