I'm 16 years old and i'll be traveling to the U.S. from france, and here it is legal to drink when youre 16. I just want to know if i can put some alcohol in my baggage, not for me, but it is a present. They won't know that I'm 16 from just looking at the baggage will they? And if so, the worst thing that can happen is they will confiscate it, right?

  1. We brought back rum from the domincain republic and yes you can. Just make sure it is wrap nice and snug! When we finally made it home and i retrieved my luggage it smelled really bad. I opened it up and there was glass everywhere. The rum bottle broke and wet all my clothes!

Oh yea...that is the worst they can do!

  2. You should be ok really, I think the people at the airport are more concerned about taxes than underage drinking, as long as you stick to the import/export limits imposed on alcohol, usually one bottle of spirits, and a bit more for wine, you should be fine.

  3. On your declaration form it asks if you are bringing in any alcohol. Customs may ask you if you have any alcohol even if it isn't declared.

$300.00 Fine for not declaring alcohol. They, also, confiscate your purchase.

If there is someone, of legal age, ask them to pack it for you.

Remember; place it in checked baggage.  The carry on limit is 100 ml of any liquid.
