Can I bring food into Belize from the USA?

Question

I don't want to get sick from the food in Belize and therefore thought about bringing a bag full of stuff (caned tuna, health bars, candy, and so on) with me. I've never traveled far outside the USA before so I don't know if the is allowed. Is it allowed or will they take the food away at the airport?

Belize has a fair selection of these things and depending on where you shop you can get at a fair price and save yourself the hassle of lugging all that down. You can bring in a certain amount of these things without paying any import duty as with the USA as long as the goods are factory sealed and packaged there shouldn't be a problem.
