Question:

Can I bring my car to Turkey?

I was just thinking when myself and my wife travel to the U.K. in September I might bring my car back with me, perhaps driving it to Turkey. What would I require apart from a International driving licence, I was thinking of my wife Nesrin as we would travel through different countries would the visa situation occur for every country we travel through?

It just seems silly to have a car in the U.K. not being used very often when we could easily drive it to Turkey when we travel back from the U.K. any thoughts?

  1. You can dfinitely bring your car to Turkey. You'll be paying foreign taxes which is minimal, but if you do decide to sell it, you'd have to sell it also to a foreigner. I have done this for a while you can take my word on that. I have attached the web site fr further info...

    Good luck...

  2. Bringing a foreign car to Turkey is both expensive and a bureaucratic minefield. It gets entered on your passport so if you leave the country without it you have to pay for it to be impounded at the nearest customs storage area. You also have to lodge a hefty sum in hard currency in a special bank account that you will only get back when the car leaves or you sell it.

You'd do better to sell your car in the UK (if you aren't using it enough to justify keeping it) and buy a car locally.

  3. Have you considered the petrol costs at today's prices?

Regarding Visas.  There would be considerable research with Shengen Visas etc to come via this method.

  4. u got to b kidding me. don be riculous!!! why not take a flight
