Can I bring my dog to Mexico?

I'm visiting there and may be moving, but i need to know how to bring my dog across the border...I'm driving....

  1. technically you need the papers but ive taken my dog numorous times and have yet to be asked for papers.  i wouldnt worry if you dont have papers.  as long as its not a puppy youll be fine.  thats all they look for is puppies.


  2. You will need a certificate from your vet saying the dog is in good health to cross the border. The certificate must have been issued within six months of the border crossing.

    Be aware that Mexicans don't have the fascination with pets that US people have. If you let your pet run loose or leave it unattended, someone may treat it in a manner you feel improper. In specific, they will treat it like a dog, not a family member.

Sure...you  will need to take the dog to your vet and get an international health certificate and current shot record just a few days before your trip.  Your vet will have the forms.  Sometimes you are asked for the forms at the border,sometimes they just wave you through...but better have them.  See article below.  I live in Mexico and have many friends who have brought their dogs to Mexico with no problems at all.

    you can take him i just dont think you can bring him back by plane you can take him in cargo which is horrible for him!
