Question:

Can I bring my dog to UK without quarantine?

I am in Czech Republic. My dog has PET EU passport and he fitted with a microchip on Aguste 4. He vaccinated against rabies on 25/01/2008.

Also I have an official record of the result of a serological test for him, carried out on a sample taken on Aguste 04, and tested in an EU-approved laboratory which states that the rabies neutralizing antibody titre was greater than 0.5 IU/ml.

At the mean time I arranged for treating my dog for ticks and tapeworms less than 48 hours before entering to UK.

Now I want to know can I bring my dog to UK in end of this month or not. Anybody knows anything about "six months rules"? Is it for EU as well or it's just for Non-EU countries?

  1. you must call the department of Agriculture or Dept of health (UK)

    I think UK still has quarantine.not 6months, maybe 5-6weeks?

  2. you have to check t out with embassy and the airlines but as long as he/she is healthy it should be ok it also depends on the breed as some are not allowed in england thanks to them stupid bsl but as long as hes had all his jabs he should be okay good luck  what breed his hes

  3. You seriously need to call the embassy and the airline. Answers here won't matter really...

If the dog acts slightly sick, they can quarantine him without warning...

Call the airline and UK embassy and ask about it all.

    Good luck.

  4. Nope. Any animal that is brought into UK for the 1st time is subject to quarantine regulations.

  5. http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quaranti...

This explains what you need to know. The six month rule no longer applies for most countries,by what you have done it sounds like you already know that.

  6. Yes you can as long as all the requirements are met.

Not all airports or sea ports can clear your dog into the uk

    Check the DEFRA website

  7. Your dog does not necessarily need to go into quarantine to come into the UK any more.  However, much as what you have in place sounds as if your dog will be okay to come in, you certainly should check with the necessary authorities (airline, DEFRA etc.) to be sure.  Otherwise you may well find your dog is denied entry/taken into quarantine facilities here.  The Pet Passport requirements are not only for EU countries - you can, and people do, bring dogs in from Canada and the States now, but you will find there 'quarantine' period is now done, in effect, outside this country, in the place they are living.  Much better!!!

  8. I think you will be ok but check with defra, vets, airline, ferry company.

It looks as though your 6 months to wait after the rabies shot is fine.
