I have had my dog for a year and I want to move to Ireland. I live in USA.

Am I allowed to bring my dog there?

Would I be allowed to bring my parakeets?

  1. Well, technically yes, but because Ireland is rabies free, they have a lot of restrictions and your animals may need to go into quarantine for upto 6 months, at least this was what it was like when I last checked.

However, you can now bring in pets into the UK (this includes Northern Ireland but not the republic of Ireland as far as I'm aware) without quarantine if you obtain a pet passport and undergo a rabies test and it is not a problem to bring pets from the UK to Ireland, so if Ireland has not updated it's regulations, that might be the easiest thing to do.
