  1. The B777 operators aren't looking for guys with turbine time.  They're looking for guys who have been captains of large jets for well over a year.

  2. yup you can

  3. Answer YES. In a lot of european countrys it is happening. You finnish you frozen ATP and then go on to become a second officer on long haul flights. I know people with 250 hours flying F/O on 737 international.

  4. I have to say "NO!" due to the fact that no one in their right mind is going to select a light aircraft pilot to pilot a B-777. These aircraft are miles apart. Airline and/or senority rules would keep you out of a B-777 for a long, long time.

Just because you can ride a bicycle does not qualify you to operate a tractor-trailer with 2 trailers.

    Sorry.

    Dan

  5. The answer to that question is yes, but with a slight deviation.  Since the 777 is so technologically advanced, most of its systems are handled by computers and since it is mostly used for ultra long haul routes, the airlines have to have a relief crew onboard at all times.  The airlines call these fine young men and women IROs or International Relief Officers.  The job of an international relief officer is of course to provide relief to the Actual Crew in command in order for them to rest and such, but the IROs do not actually land or  get the aircraft airborne. Quite often, the applicants who apply for this type of position have some jet time, in some rare cases, not much at all.  I believe the pay for an IRO is about 50K on the 777.   Their schedules are real sweet by the way.  I hear these guys get about 20 some odd days off out of the month.

  6. In the real world, no. But with that said in some countries that are dealing with a pilot shortage such as India, and some of the countries in the Middle East, Caravan time is turbine and if it was pilot-in-command would be much better than say Cessna-172 time. So in theory, it could happen but doubtful.
