Can I burn a movie that I have on my computer onto a DVD+R Disc and watch it on my DVD player?

If not what disc should I use?

Plus I'm using SoThink Movie DVD Maker, should I use something else?

  1. Do you mean you have +R media? (As opposed to -R media.)

You need to check your dvd player and see what media it supports.  Some read either format, and some are restricted to one or the other.  Check the mfgr website.

  2. It depends on you dvd player.  I am assuming you can bur DVDs.  Some players don't like +r, some don't like -r, some just hate them all.  All my players work fine with any that I use.  I have found that some brands of discs work better with my burner than others.  You may want to check out http://www.videohelp.com/ .

I haven't used that software.  Give it a shot.

  3. Total Video2Dvd can help you convert movies to dvd simply and directly,

    1. click "New project", add video files, than click "OK"

    2. click "DVD menu", preview dvd menu

    3. click "Output", click "Convert and Burn" start burn DVD.

    b. support srt, sub, ssa, ***, smi, psb, tex, idx subtitles

    c. support dvd menu with background music, with a lot of templates

    d. support download youtube and other video share website video, then burn to dvd

    e. support photo slideshow to dvd, more than 300 kinds of effects.

  4. first of all you need a dvd-rewriter you will know if you have one because on your dvd drive on your pc will have a logo like these http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Articles... or http://www.cdrom-cellar.com/a04/dvd-rw_l... and to burn the dvd use nero 7 or 8 and nero will tell you after the conversion of the video if you have can burn the dvd. it also doesnt matter if you have a + or - dvd.

  5. No, you can't. you need a DVD-RW drive to write a DVD or CD-DVD-RW to write both or only a CD-RW R means readable W means writable RW means readable and writable.

  6. don't listen to him, yeah you can. you just need a dvd burner and a nero( i use it) it's awsome, anyways your dvd player also needs to be able to read dvd+r

  7. 'SoThink' is a ripper, producing AVI movie files from DVD originals.  The sort of compression levels achieved by 'SoThink' can be overkill for simply squeezing a DVD to a single layer blank, and other products and better techniques are available for this job which avoid coding to AVI and then back to Mpeg2, thus maintaining a better quality image.  Forgive me, though, for I don't know the full extent of  features in 'SoThink'.

If you have ripped AVIs already, they should load up into a DVD authoring program such as Nero, to produce and recode a DVD layout. If your computer has a recorder that is compatible with +R media, you can burn to that, while if your DVD player is also compatible with +R media then you can play it!   It should be easy for you to find out if your writer handles +R, but with your player you may need to just try it and see. It's not going to cost much to buy some -R to use instead, and your player and burner should at least handle one or the other.  In most cases, nowadays, this isn't even an issue.

If your DVD player can handle DIVX, an alternative is to rip DIVX format files and burn them to a data DVD, rather than making DVD-Video.

  8. I would recommend you download ConvertXtoDVD. Ive been using it for a year now, on windows, never had a problem!

It will convert your video files to the dvd format readable by all standard dvd players, then burn automatically to DVD!

it is easy to use, fast and it works perfect for me.. give it a try, you'll love it

    1. Download ConvertXtoDVD from vso official site here:

    2. Add or drag-n-drop as many video files as the DVD can handle

    3. Insert blank DVD

ConvertXtoDVD has a lot of extra nice features too,

for example you can make your own DVD menu or auto-generate it, add subtitles, auto-burn to dvd or save your conversion.
