food stamps can be used on any food to my understanding, so technically yes.  personally, if you have enough money to spend foodstamps on a $2 can of soda, you shouldn't be on food stamps.

My eyes are rolled firmly back into my head.  Stuff like over-priced energy drinks are a luxury, not a necesity.  Use your food stamps to buy nutritious food that will give you the energy you need to go out there and get a better paying job.

I'm a pretty progressive Dem, but I've stood in line at the grocery store with my cake mix and generic snacks for my kid's birthday party behind a guy buying a really nice bakery birthday cake and real Doritos and Coke.  It just struck me wrong at the time, because I was on my lunch hour at work, and I knew I would have the make the cake when I got home...

You can buy a nice big bag of Pinto Beans or rice that you can eat on all week...and some coffee!

it sucks that i work for a living and people on food stamps can buy steak and lobster. thats just wrong!
