Can I buy a car in Tx with a Ga license?

I want to buy a car in Texas but I have a Ga license and I don't want to give it up because that's my home state and I'm back and forth between states. Its more expensive to fly and I'm really good with driving long distance. Will a dealer still allow me to purchase a vehicle??? Or will I have to change to a Tx license. I also heard that they can't pull you for jury duty if you currently live in that state without the state license.

  1. Well, where is your permanent address?  You can buy the car with a GA license, no problem.  As far as the taxes go, if you really spend your time more in GA, and have a permanent resident there, you would register the car in GA and pay GA taxes, and be exempt from TX taxes.  :-)

  2. Buying a car is a business transaction.  They don't care where your license is from.  You may have to do a Georgia registration though.  Georgia will also want you to pay sales tax on it since Texas won't charge any.

  3. Shouldn't be a problem...
