I don't have a car and will be starting in the LVN program this fall. I qualify for a loan, and get a Pell grant as well. The Pell takes care of all my school costs with some to spare. I will need a car in order to travel to clinicals this fall but the financial aid adviser says that I cannot buy a car with the money. I can repair a car or buy gas and whatnot, but not buy a car. How am I supposed to travel out of town? I am so frustrated right now. I have transportation in town to and from class and maybe if the clinicals are here but they are not all here. And, we cannot choose where they will be. I don't know what to do. I have to go through with this because it seems right for me but if I don't go to clinicals I will fail. I have no other resources whatsoever to help me in getting a car so I was looking forward to this loan helping me. I have horrible credit so nobody will loan me money and I do not make enough to save anything to pay for it myself.

  1. You can buy a car, you can buy pizza, you can buy hookers, you can buy whatever you want, just make sure if someone asks, your purchase is for educational purposes, or the betterment of your educational experience.  Your loan isn't free money, you still have to pay back the cash, so they're pretty lenient about giving you hastel about what you buy.  I had loans out the wahzoo and not once did anyone ask me what I used the money for.  I bought a computer, I paid bills, I bought books (educational and otherwise), and I never once heard anyting from anyone until it came time to pay them back, and even then the only thing I heard from anyone is "you owe us money."
