Can I buy a phone from one company like Rogers, and then switch to another company like bell??

Is it possible to buy a phone from Rogers or Fido or someplace and switch the Company to Bell, but still keep the same phone??

because Bell doesn't have that much good selections, and I really like the phones they have at rogers, but my dad wants me to stick with bell because r land line and internet are with bell...

so is it possible to buy a phone i like from rogers and then just switch the company to bell??

  1. It is possible, but you will have to ask Rogers to unlock the phone. Many companies "lock" their phones so you will not switch to another provider.  To do this though, Bell and Rogers must both be GSM carriers (with sim cards), otherwise this is not possible. Another option would be though, to just buy the phone from the company it came from itself (ex. Sony Ericsson, Nokia).


  2. It is definitely not possible to do this, as Bell is a CDMA carrier and they do not support GSM equipment.

  3. Even if you bought a unlocked cdma cell from a manufacturer   , ebay ect and tried to activate it on Telus , Bell , Virgin Mobile , Pc mobile , koodo , solomobile they won't allow it because it is a foreign esn on there network .
