I'll arrive in Paris on August 1st. I'll arrive in London by plane and I'd like to take a train to Paris from London. My question is:? is it possible to buy a one way ticket London-Paris in Paris when I arrive?

  1. Yes you can. I've even bought (for family coming to visit) a London - Paris - London ticket while in Paris.

BUT, for some really crazy marketing reason, single tickets cost very much more than a round trip. I mean REALLY very much more. Like several times the price.

    There are a few solutions:

    1) buy a round trip and bin the return half.

If you go for this solution, take a Paris-London-Paris rather than London-Paris-London, as it is slightly cheaper.

    2) If you are under 26, you can get a slightly more flexible ticket. Again, you must buy a return ticket, but you can sell the return half on e-bay or a specialised web site.

    3) Buy a round trip ticket. One of the non-flexible ones. Sell the other half on the internet

    4) Buy a ticket on the internet from someone who has done one of the above.

I have just bought a round trip for 77 euros and sold the half I didn't want for 38 euros. So the single ticket cost me only 39 euros. A single bought on its own costs over 230 euros. Go figure. The tickets are not nominative.

Here are the tips for buying/selling

    1) E-bay does not carry Eurostar tickets on its UK site. But it does on its French site. UK buyers and sellers know this.

    2) kelbillet.com and trocdesprems.com are two very good sites for buying and selling tickets. The rule is that they must not be sold for more than the face value, so you can get some good bargains.

  2. Get  your travel plans straight.  What a moron.  I don't advise you to do any traveling until you get your head out of the clouds.
