I just don't want to have to pay another 50 dollars a month to have another internet line. My router is great but as soon as the main computer shuts off my mum doesn't let me use the internet. Sometimes I like to be online late doing work and all that. So is what I'm talking about possible?

  1. Buy a simple network switch (Linksys makes some good ones). Plug the router into the switch and then take 2 ethernet cables and plug one into the computer and plug one into the laptop. Keep in mind that once you do this most ISP's wont support this setup. So before you call them for help make sure to put it back to the original setup.

  2. Most modems have to be granted acess by your broad band supplier...so another modom would do you no good unless your cable or dsl  people allow it to connect. I think you should follow mum's rules.

  3. If you route the DSL box (or cable) straight into the router and from the router to the main comp and your comp then it doesnt matter if the main computer is on or not.

  4. if you just complete a few quick tasks on this site they'll send you a sony laptop, completely free of charge!!
