Can I buy enough bubble wrap to make my own solar pool cover?

The price of a solar cover is ridiculous, the size of my pool is 20'x40' (800 sq. ft.). Can I buy an instrial roll of bubble wrap and stitch my own cover together?

  1. Novel idea!

Don't know how economical it would be or how you'd attach it, but the three links below are all bubble wrap sellers.

Second link says they wholesale to all as does the forth.

    Good luck!

  2. Buy a framed poster from allposters.com. They'll wrap it in so much bubble wrap you'll be able to make two.

Seriously, Google (or look in the Yellow pages) for "moving supplies" or "packing supplies". The one problem I'm seeing in doing that myself is that the bubble wrap advertised seems to be perforated every twelve inches. If you can find some that isn't, I'd say you could tape the lengths together with waterproof tape (stitching will just put more holes in it; also, unlike waterproof fabric, bubblewrap will tear if you stitch it).
