Can I buy from Ebay without verifying my paypal account?

Question

I'm completely new to both Ebay and paypal, so don't know how to go about this..

I want to buy something from ebay, but the item listed will end in a few hours. Can I still bid for it even though I havent verfied my paypal account? If so, how does it work? Would I need to link my bank account etc? Or can you only buy things after you've verified your account?
