  1. If your dog is small enough you could train him to just sit in place of the rook.  It would take a lot of work but I think your dog will learn to take responsibility for his actions.

  2. it depends on the quality of your set.  for a particularly nice set, the manufacturer may be able to supply individual pieces, for a clunky plastic cheap set, you might check out your local thriftstore or goodwill or whatever second-hand stores are in your area.

  3. IT is possible to get a new one . Just contact the manufacturer if there is a number on the box or address. Also your bic lighter could be a replacement .  NOTHING LIKE A HOME MADE ROOK I SAY !!

  4. yes.  Or you could get something and just pretend that it's a rook!

  5. Buy another chess set.  Keep the old one so you have a replacement when the dog chews up the bishop.

  6. You can but your dog will probably just do it again. My suggestion is to buy a new chess set but, make sure that the pieces are made of metal or hand crafted pewter. Reason? Dogs don't like the taste of metal, and usually avoid it the way you would avoid chewing on aluminum foil. Plus, the dog wouldn't do as much damage to a metal piece as a plastic marble piece.

  7. Go to almost any thrift store like Goodwill Americas Best ect. and see if they have a chess set. Most chess sets at thrift stores cost from fifty cents to a dollar.  Good luck.

  8. I can sell you a rook if you want. I have paypal just email me and we can talk

  9. substitute it, like with legos. That's what I did with my pawn.
