The psycologist said that when the foster mom adopts our grandchildren that it would be in the best interest of the child to have contact with their us, their grandparents. However, the foster mom refuses to let us see them or call them. Can I call the Child Abuse hot line for my grandchildren being psych. traumatize?

  1. call them to ask why they will not allow contact

  2. If you are going to  stand by and let your grand-kids go to foster care instead of bringing them home to your house, no mater how small your place is, then you may not be able to see them, ESP if they are adopted to the foster family. You need to get a lawyer and take custody of your grandchildren if you want any rights at all to see them or have them in your life.

  3. Why on earth are your grandchildren with a foster parent? If you are a living relative you can fight for custody. I would never let someone else raise my grandchildren.

  4. I would contact your lawyer first.  The kids aren't really being abused here.  It's not nice what she's doing, but it's not abuse.  If you call CPS, then there will be an investigation and all the drama.  That will cause the children to become traumatized.  This can be settled by a lawyer first.   But, don't go putting the kids through the CPS system again, unless they truly are being physically or mentally abused.

  5. Contact the children and youth services first and see what the rules were when the children were placed in foster care. They may have specific guidelines about who the kids can and cannot see.

  6. You can, but you may be charged with filing a false report.  Grandparents don't have any rights when it comes to their grandchildren unless they have custody.  Why aren't you trying to get custody?  It is in the best interest of the child to be with a family member.  If someone else adopts these kids, they will have a new set of grandparents and well as a new family.  You won't count at all anymore.

  7. It sounds like you are the one who is traumatized.

Lets face it these kids are in foster care for a reason. They don't just pick up kids and place them away from family for no reason. It will not do you any good to make false claims or to waste the time of CPS. You need to talk to the foster mother and find out why she is not letting you see the kids.
