Question:

Can I call myself a vegetarian if I still eat fish and eggs?

When I say I’m a vegetarian a lot of people seem surprised when I order eggs with my toast or a fish sandwich. I think cutting out all that protein is a little extreme and fish aren’t usually subject to the abuse that goes on in livestock farms and slaughterhouses. Am I wrong?

  1. no,u cannot call urself vegetarian

  2. no no no and no.

    are fish living things? yes.

are they captured/killed so you can eat them? yes.

eggs are optional I would say, that's more vegan.

but no, you aren't a vegetarian.

  3. Many vegetarians eat eggs..it is not an animal but no vegetarian eats fish.  Protein is in pretty much everything you eat so it's impossible to cut it out.  Bread has it, pasta has it and even vegetables have it.  My bread has 7 grams for 2 slices...anything over 5 grams is considered a great source of protein.

  4. No, you're not vegetarian if you eat meat, fish or animal bi-products.

  5. Do not stop now you are half way home.you are on the right road to becoming a full vegetarian, and that is the best road to be on.GOOD LUCK.

  6. why do you care what you are called? Eat whatever please you,   people worry too much about labels these days.

  7. you aren't vegetarian. stop calling yourself that.

you give the REAL vegetarians (people that don't eat ANY animal, fish included) a bad name.

  8. you are not a vegetarian...you are just not a "meat" eater.

  9. no you can't

  10. Fish, no.  Eggs, yes.

Vegetarians don't eat dead animals.  Fish is clearly an animal, so you are not a vegetarian.

Each vegetarian makes his or her own call on dairy products and eggs because they are not from dead animals.

Cutting out eggs and fish will NOT leave you wanting for protein.  Even vegans easily get enough.  It comes in soybeans and soy foods, legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, vegetables and mushrooms.

Here is the definition of the word "vegetarian" from the people who coined it to begin with: http://www.vegsoc.org/info/definitions.h...

  12. the term vegetarian is given to people who don't eat killed animals like beef,fish,veal........  although vegetarian people may consume milk, dairy products ,eggs.Cutting out all sources of animal protein is extremely unhealthy and may induce lots of health disorders. However, being vegetarian can lead to a healthier weight by eating legumes, cereals, eggs, milk and eating twice a week fish is even better.

  13. You are not vegetarian..

    A vegetarian eat NO Meat..

Meat is flesh of an animal..

    Fish is animal..

    Sorryy...

At least you tried to be nice...?

But fish do have feelings..and Indeed DO suffer

  14. It doesn't matter if they are the happiest fish to ever live, vegetarians do not eat dead animals.

People look at you weird because they aren't sure if you are a liar and a hypocrite or you just never bothered researching what a vegetarian is.

  15. Yes, you can still constitute yourself as a vegetarian.  There are many kinds of vegetarians.

Eg. lacto-vegetarian (eat dairy), ovo-vegetarian (eats eggs), not sure what they call vegetarians who eat fish.

You are VEGAN if you do not eat any animal products at all, including dairy, eggs, meat, fish, etc.  They usually don't use leather products either.
