Can I carry 1 personal and 1 official laptop from USA to India?

I just went to india from Canada and I had one work laptop and one personal for a friend...because I was bringing my work laptop with me, I declared it but not the other since I was allowed to take one personal laptop with me so the answer for me was yes, i was able to take two laptops.

According to Customs rule, you can carry only 1 lap top as duty free.

your question is not clear. are u asking from customs duties point of view or whether the airlines will allow two laptops as hand baggage.

if it is custom duties u want to know about, you can bring only One laptop without paying duties.

You are allowed one carry on bag plus a laptop bag.  If you can fit both laptops in the laptop bag, or put one in your carry on, that's fine.  

Generally there is no limit on the amount of laptops you can bring.  However, double-check with your airline to see if they have any electronics restrictions.

I am American, living in Alaska, well, I carried a laptop

from here to Italy once, so if I can do that,

u can do it also. A laptop isn't dangerous.
