I am living outside the USA, but I have an online business in which I will be paid by US issued checks. Though will I be able to cash those checks or not?

  1. I would say it depends on the company and their credentials,-your bank would be able to help you with this. But u should be a member of this bank, at least have an account. You may have to run checks through a clearing house, then forward the money to you.

  2. Yes, but it may not be a good idea.  Your overseas bank will charge you a percentage, or a flat fee, or both.  How big will the checks be?  If they're for $10, or even $100, it probably doesn't make sense.

Other ideas:  PayPal? Or you can have someone in the US, either a friend/relative or a business, receive the funds. Your buyer sends their check to a US address, your agent deposits it in your US account and sends you the details of who has paid how much.  Then you either use the US account to pay US-based expenses, if you have them, or occasionally transfer the funds to yourself overseas (the bigger the amount, the smaller percentage you'll pay in fees for that).

There are businesses that do that too, but once again unless the checks are big or numerous, it's probably cost-prohibitive.

But I have a cousin in Nigeria who'll do it for you....
