Can I cash a personal Wachovia check at Wachovia?

My dad wrote me a check. He banks at Wachovia and I bank at BB&T. The catch is there isn't a BB&T near me, so I was wondering if I could take it to Wachovia and cash it?

If you write a personal check as a gift for a friend(wedding gift) and they still haven't cashed it after 6 months,does it cancel out or do I have to pay the $30 fee to do so?I've received 2 different answers for this question.
