Question:

Can I caulk where ceiling meets wall?

Basically, I'm a huge perfectionist, so my problem stems from that. My wall paint is red and the ceiling paint is white, so the imperfection really stands out where the wall meets the ceiling. I just can't get the paint line straight enough for my satisfaction. I do the wall and get it into the white, so I come back around with the white and get it into the red. I'm going nuts!! I can't really put up moulding because this is the kitchen and there are cabinets that already have their own trim at the ceiling height. So my question is, can I use white caulk around the perimeter of the kitchen where the wall meets the ceiling? I tried painter's tape -- disaster. I want to know if the caulk will stick since it's not filling a crack, especially if you've done it before -- how did it hold up over time? Thanks for any tips.

  1. My husband did this around our entire house it looks great. He used a paintable white caulk. He would put a nice bead of caulk right in the corner and then use his finger to smooth it out. Make sure to have a wet rag in your hand as well to clean your finger up and any mistakes. Also, make sure that you are maintaining the size and appearance of the caulk line. It doesn't need to be very thick either. We are not professionals, but I'll tell ya, it looks great!
