Can I change easily my outside florescent light to an ordinary bulb?

Outside light not working, needs new starter, is it expensive to replace, I would really like just an ordinary light.

  1. To change to a regular bulb, you would need to install a regular fixture that will accept the bulb. I'd replace the starter, it is not very expensive or hard to do.


  2. turn off the circuit breaker and replace it. not a problem.  the wiring is the same.

  3. You can buy a new fixture, remove the old one and install the new one. It should not be more than a couple of screws, a couple of wires (match the white to the white, the bare to the bare and the colored wire to the colored wire, be sure the switch or power is off first!) and probably a little touch up paint.

  4. A starter is only a few pence why change to a tungsten lamp which will be unavailable ina couple of years

  5. it is easier to change the starter and they are not that expensive, but if you do change it is fairly easy,
