I have gone through meps and joined into air force active for 4 years, I have not done any basic training and don't have my job chosen yet, so is it possible for me to switch to the air force guard?

  1. You should be able to. My buddy in the Marine Corps did just that. He enlisted as active duty but while in DEP he wanted to go reserves and he got it. Of course, you're gonna have to do more paper work and go to MEPS again to change your status.

  2. Yes you can do that, but you will still have to work on the guard base and put in your hours to remain in the service. I would go talk to your commander and they can let you know the steps to take. Also while you are in the guard they will still help contribute to your college education, just and FYI!!! Goodluck!!! Oh and thank you for protecting our country, I give you alot of credit.
