Can I change from an Australian Working holiday visa to a Student visa?

I will finish college next year and want to do my degree at an australian university. The thing is I would like to take a year out after college and visit Australia on a working holiday visa, just to make sure that I want to spend the time of my 5 year degree in Australia. So, I was just wondering whether it would be possible to change to a student visa whilst in Australia on a working holiday visa.

Thanks.

(By the way I am English.)

  1. Yes you can, but the granting of your student visa will cancel your working holiday visa. If you think you may want to have another working holiday here after your studies, you should make sure you do the '3 months of seasonal work in a regional area' thing during your first WH period so that you can apply for a second visa at a later time. If you don't do the seasonal work to qualify for one, you won't ever be able to get a second WH visa even if you actually only used a few months of your first visa.
